Manpower Structure of the Department

Bangladesh Water and Wetland Development Directorate (Employee) Recruitment Rules, 2022 Bangladesh Gazette published on 27 October 2022. According to the said rules, there are 73 approved manpower structures for the head office and 45 for the 3 (Sunamganj, Kishoreganj and Netrakona) regional offices of the Directorate of Bangladesh Haor and Wetland Development with a total of 118 posts. At present, the activities of the department are being carried out with 7 officers on deputation and 28 employees coming from the erstwhile Bangladesh Water and Wetland Development Board. Requisition/proposal has been sent to Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) for candidate recommendation for recruitment of 13 direct recruitable non-cadre 1st class and 05 2nd class total 18 posts on 07 February 2023.

Sunamganj Regional Office
A three-storied office building was constructed in the financial year 2010-2012 at a cost of Tk 2.5 crore at Sholghar in the municipal area of Sunamganj district. At present one personal assistant, two office assistants are working. A Deputy Director of the Head Office is in additional charge of the said Regional Office.

Kishoreganj Regional Office
RS Khatian No. 12, Dag No. 606 in East Tarapasha Mauza of Kishoreganj district has 2 tinshed buildings on 61 percent land. The building was constructed in 2010-2011 at a cost of Tk 35,10,157. There is a data counter operator, a security guard working there. A Deputy Director of the Head Office is in additional charge of the said Regional Office.

Netrakona Regional Office
A design has been prepared for the construction of Netrokona Regional Office on a site of 240 square meters in the area of Netrokona District, Bangladesh Water Development Board. Preparation of DPP is in progress.

Proposal for new Regional Office
15 new regional offices will be established under this directorate for the purpose of conservation and management of wetlands. The activities of setting up regional offices in Moulvibazar, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Natore, Sirajganj, Tangail, Khulna, Faridpur, Barisal, Bhola, Munshiganj, Gazipur, Chandpur, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar regions have been taken.
